Common Questions

We have not just one, but two different laser cutting machines to cover a wide range of materials and uses. We have a 50W CO2 laser and a 60W MOPA fiber laser here in the studio.

Our 50W CO2 laser provides us with a reasonably large work area and can cut through almost anything we put under it, while our 60W MOPA fiber laser provides much less in the work area category, however it more than makes up for it with it’s multi-colour marking and even deep engraving of metals, with it’s galvo laser head it has speed that is unmatched by it’s larger CO2 counterpart, and it’s MOPA technology allows for precision to safely engrave various materials that would otherwise not be suitable for high-powered lasers.

Laser engraving allows for extremely detailed designs, even on harder materials. The precision of our lasers ensures that even the most intricate patterns are crisp and clear.

Our CO2 and MOPA lasers cover a large a variety of materials including wood, acrylic, paper, glass, leather, and even most metals.

Due to the nature of using high-powered lasers to cut through materials, some materials such as PVC (vinyl) are not possible due to the chemical reaction that occurs which produce extremely toxic reactions (fortunately we have an actual vinyl cutter plotter for such tasks instead!)

Another limitation is the work area of the laser. Our CO2 laser provides a work area of 300mm x 600mm (or 12″ x 24″), with passthrough for even larger projects, and our MOPA fiber laser has a working area up to 300mm x 300mm (or 12″ x 12″).

We work with vector files for cutting and raster images for engraving. Preferred formats include .SVG, .AI, and .DXF for vector graphics, and .PNG or .JPG for raster images.
